A friend of Patrick's channelled some information for him about the energy he had been given. She received a name for the energy and spelt it out as "S-e-t-i-m". This name did not seem quite right to Patrick so he meditated and a voice came to him with the pronunciation of Sei-Ch-im. He then began to call the energy Seichim. Some time later, Patrick discovered the word Sekhem in a book about the ancient Egyptian goddess Sekhmet.
He realised this was the ancient Egyptian word for Universal Energy and Power, and that it was the same word he had been given in meditation. Patrick then began using both spellings of the word interchangeably. The energy was passed down from Patrick on to others, and came to be developed by various people into healing systems similar to Usui Reiki.
Two key figures in this process were T'om Seaman and Phoenix Summerfield. Several slightly different systems came into being, with slightly different names including Seichim, Seichem and Sekhem. Treatments are also given in a similar way, including distance healing treatments. Patrick now passes the energy on to others in his ALL LOVE workshops which involve the participants connecting with the energy via active meditations and "spontaneous initiations".

These variations go by names such as Isis Seichim or Seven-facet Seichim. Such practitioners may also practice several similar systems of energy healing.
Kathleen Milner also teaches a form of Seichim spelled Seichem ; she claims her connection to the energy became strengthened after she received an epiphany from Buddha.
From that experience, she created Tera Mai Seichem , which she claims cannot be combined with any of the other forms of Reiki or Seichim. Currently, there are thousands teaching this system of healing around the world under the various spellings.
He teaches it as an initiatory healing usually taught in a group workshop, very different from reiki or the reiki-related variations of Seichim. A practitioner, Helen Belot, has claimed copyright of the spelling SEKHEM, although the word is in use by many practitioners and even is the name of a magical power in one role-playing game.
